Russian Defense Ministry says it destroyed Patriot missile defense system in Kyiv

The Russian Defense Ministry said in its daily briefing on Tuesday that it successfully used a Kinzhal missile to strike a U.S.-made Patriot missile defense system in Kyiv on Monday night.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported earlier that its air defenses downed all of the drones and missiles that Russia launched at the capital city Monday night, including six Kinzhal missiles.

Kyiv City Military Administration head Serhii Popko said Ukraine managed to shoot down “the majority” of Russia’s missile and drones. He called Moscow’s latest attack on the city “exceptional in its density,” referring to the high number of weapons Russia fired in a short time period.
