Russian right-wing political party maxes out server with high turnout for Minecraft May Day rally to honor late founder, firebrand Vladimir Zhirinovsky

A Minecraft May Day rally, organized by Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) by the virtual monument to the party’s founder Vladimir Zhirinovsky, has gathered 12,000 players, according to the party’s spokesman Alexander Dyupin.

The “Zhirinovsky monument” was erected by Minecraft users on April 25, to commemorate the LDPR founder’s birthday.

The party’s spokesman told the press that, after 12,000 users arrived for the rally, the server could not accommodate any more players.

A Fontanka corresponded who arrived at the appointed time but couldn’t join the demonstration points out that the server from which the May Day rally was hosted should be able to accommodate up to 100,000 users.
