Source: Meduza

The Polish prosecutor’s office seized funds from Russia’s embassy and trade mission accounts, the Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreev told RIA Novosti.

The Russian ambassador said that “we received a notice from the prosecutor’s office that funds from the embassy and trade mission’s accounts at Santander bank were transferred to the account of the prosecutor’s office.”

According to Andreev, Santander announced that it stopped cooperating with the Russian embassy and closed its accounts. The ambassador said that the accounts held “considerable funds” in both U.S. dollars and Polish zlotys.

RIA Novosti reports that Poland had previously frozen the Russian embassy’s accounts on suspicion that they were being used for money laundering or financing terrorism.
