Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe reportedly recognizes Russia's deportation of Ukrainian children as genocide
Update: PACE has released a statement on its official site demanding the "safe return of Ukrainian children forcibly transferred to Russia or territory it temporarily occupies" and acknowledging that "the documented evidence of this practice matches with the international definition of genocide."
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has adopted a resolution recognizing the forced displacement of Ukrainian children to Russia as genocide, according to the Ukrainian news outlet Evropeiska Pravda.
The body appeared to confirm the news on Twitter.
According to Evropeiska Pravda, the resolution notes that Russia began illegally deporting children from orphanages and care facilities for disabled children in Ukraine’s occupied regions even before the start of Moscow’s full-scale invasion.
