A man armed with a pistol tried to get into the Russian Defense Ministry’s building in central Moscow on Friday, according to the state news agency TASS and the Telegram channels Shot and 112.
The incident reportedly occurred at a security checkpoint outside of the building. A source told TASS that the man was “unwell” and that he waved his arms and yelled loudly as he tried to get onto the premises. “The perpetrator was quickly arrested and was unable to explain his motive,” the source said. There were no injuries.
Afterwards, the man was reportedly charged with a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct and sent in for a psychological evaluation. The Russian authorities have not commented on the episode.
