Prosecution demands 25-year prison sentence for Vladimir Kara-Murza

Source: Sota

Vladimir Kara-Murza’s lawyer, Maria Eismont, told reporters at a Moscow municipal court that a prosecutor asked for a 25 year prison sentence for the opposition policitican.

Eismont said that Kara-Murza has lost 17 kilograms (37 pounds) during his detention, which is already a year long. Another of Kara-Murza’s lawyers, Vadim Prokhorov, said earlier that his client has medical problems with his lower extremities, likely the result of poisonings in 2015 and 2017, which will make serving the sentence difficult.

Vladimir Kara-Murza was arrested in April 2022, originally for disobeying police. Since then, he’s also been charged with spreading “fakes” about the Russian army, collaborating with an “undesirable” organization, and treason.
