A batch of 18 German tanks have been handed over to Ukraine, reports Der Spiegel.
The delivery takes place two months after the German government resolved to supply Kyiv with Leopard 2 tanks, and gave other countries express permission to do the same.
On February 24 (the anniversary of the Russian invasion), Poland’s Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said that the first four Leopard 2 tanks had been shipped as military aid to Kyiv.
The new delivery from Germany contributes to the critical aid Ukraine needs to launch a counteroffensive against Russia this spring.
Update: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed at a press conference that the Leopard 2 tanks have arrived in Germany.
