President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky denied recent suggestions that Ukraine may have had a hand in the Nord Stream pipeline explosions last year.
“I think it’s very dangerous that several independent media outlets, which I’ve always respected greatly, are taking this step. Ukraine definitely didn’t do it. That’s the main thing,” Zelensky said. He added that the allegations of Ukraine’s involvement were “honestly funny.”
According to Zelensky, such media reports play “into Russia’s hands” and slow down the delivery of aid to Ukraine.
On March 7, the New York Times reported that U.S. intelligence officials saw evidence that “a pro-Ukrainian group” was responsible for the attacks on Nord Stream. Several German news outlets subsequently published similar reports.
