Administration in occupied part of Zaporizhzhia names Melitopol regional capital

Source: TASS

The administration of the part of Zaporizhzhia currently occupied by Russian forces has announced that occupying authorities will consider Melitopol the regional capital.

Evgeny Balitsky, head of the occupying administration, signed the order making Melitopol a regional capital on March 3. The same order made Berdyansk and Enerhodar cities of regional significance.

13 districts have been formed within the territory of occupied Zaporizhzhia, and their boundaries, as well as the boundaries of the cities of Berdyansk and Enerhodar, correspond to “administrative zoning of the Ukrainian SSR as it was on September 16, 1991.” The order also expands the boundaries of Melitopol to the Sea of Azov, so that several settlements are now incorporated within city limits.
