Russia’s Justice Ministry adds pop star Zemfira and others to ‘foreign agents’ list

Russia’s Justice Ministry has added the singer Zemfira to its list of “foreign agents.” The Ministry says the singer “openly supported Ukraine, and also received support from foreign sources.”

Aside from Zemfira, new additions to the list include:

• Opposition leader Dmitry Gudkov, “for calls to arm Ukraine and impose sanctions on Russia;”
• Political consultant Abbas Gallyamov, for distributing materials from “foreign agents” and anti-war speech;
• Vladivostok activist Tatyana Nazambaeva, for distributing materials from “foreign agents” and “LGBT propaganda;”
• Mathematician and election analyst Sergey Shpilkin, for receiving support from foreign sources, and disseminating “inaccurate information about authorities’ activities” as well as “attempting to discredit the electoral system of the Russian Federation;”
• Activist Alexandra Kazantseva, for “LGBT propaganda;”
• Head of the anti-domestic violence organization Nasiliu.net Anna Rivina, for disseminating “inaccurate information about authorities’ activities” and negative information about the Russian Ministry of Defense, as well as anti-war speech (separately, the justice ministry noted that Rivina heads an organization that is also included in the list of “foreign agents”).
