Fire breaks out at a Latvia drone factory

Source: Delfi

In the city of Mārupe, near Riga, a fire broke out at a factory belonging to the company Edge Autonomy, which manufactures drones.

The fire started around 3:00 pm local time. After four hours it had been contained, but not extinguished. Four people were injured.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire. The department’s preliminary information does not suggest that it was the result of arson.

Edge Autonomy, which is headquartered in California, supplies drones to the U.S. Army, among others. Local publication Par drošību reports that it also supplies the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but Meduza was unable to find any information about it. However, in January, another publication, BNN, reported that Edge Autonomy would donate some of its products to Ukrainian Armed Forces.
