Bryansk schools ordered to prepare to accommodate Russian military personnel

Source: iStories

The Russian investigative outlet iStories reports that the district administration in the Bryansk district of Russia’s Bryansk region has ordered at least six elementary schools to prepare to host Russian troops.

The outlet obtained a recording, on which Alla Azarkina, the head of the district’s department of education, says, “Emergency services will come and look around with the aim of accommodating military personnel in these schools in case of emergency. Please be prepared to show the educational institution without asking any questions.”

The schools in question are currently working full time, and it’s unclear how students will study if military personnel are stationed there.

In April 2022, schools in the Bryansk region’s border districts switched to remote learning due to the threat of shelling from across the Ukrainian border, according to the regional governor.

On January 26, online news outlet Vot Tak reported that Bryansk authorities were making preparations in case martial law is declared in the region.
