State Duma deputies submit new bill enabling National Guard to attach troops to any organization or company
Deputies for the United Russia and New People parties have submitted to the State Duma a new bill, whose aim is to enable the National Guard to temporarily attach its troops to the staff of any state-run organization, facility, or institution, as well as companies in the country.
In an explanatory note submitted with the bill, its authors point out that most of Russia’s law enforcement agencies already have the power to do this, and the National Guard should be no exception.
On his Telegram channel, Deputy Alexander Khinshtein, one of the bill’s co-authors, commented on the draft legislation:
The National Guard is tasked with a multitude of high-responsibility duties, which include guarding significant state facilities and special cargoes, control over arms trade and private security industry, taking part in fighting terrorism, extremism, and many other things. It’s logical that National Guard troops should get temporary staff positions within the organizations they protect or structures immediately connected to their tasks.
