Putin orders Culture Ministry to arrange ‘patriotic’ film screenings in Russian movie theaters

Source: Meduza

President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Russian Ministry of Culture to organize screenings of “patriotic” documentaries across the nation’s cinemas.

Films about the war against Ukraine (which Russian officials continue to call a “special military operation”), about Russia’s “struggle against the spread of Neo-Nazi and Neo-fascist ideologies,” and other “patriotic” subjects are to be screened in theaters nationwide, following the president’s order.

The list of tasks presented by the president to the government after his November meeting with military mothers advises the Defense Ministry to aid documentary filmmakers in making new films about Russian servicemen who demonstrated “courage, gallantry, and heroism” during the invasion.

The ministries of Culture and Education are also expected to contribute to this propaganda effort, by creating “public spaces, art objects, and school museums” dedicated to the “special operation,” and to organize classroom lectures on the subject.

How propaganda entered Russian higher education

‘The West is in decay, but our future is shining’ Russian universities will soon have a new required subject — perhaps best described as ‘Studies in Russian Greatness’
