Kyiv regional authorities report multiple explosions and air defenses activated

Explosions rocked Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi District on Wednesday morning, according to the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko.

“Explosions in the capital’s Shevchenkivskyi District. [Emergency] services headed to site. Details to come,” Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

Also on Wednesday morning, authorities issued air raid alerts in Ukraine’s Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Vinnytsia regions. According to Ukrainian news outlets, Kyiv residents heard the sounds of drones and explosions.

Kyiv Regional Governor Oleksiy Kuleba reported that air defense systems in the region were activated. Later, Klitschko said that the Ukrainian military had shot down 10 kamikaze drones over Kyiv and other parts of the region.
