Feminist Anti-War Resistance movement demands Russian troops’ withdrawal from Ukraine

The “Feminist Anti-War Resistance” movement and an organized group of mothers of mobilized and contract soldiers have issued an open letter, demanding an end to the war and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory. The document coincides with Russian Mother’s Day and is addressed to members of relevant State Duma and Federation Council committees.

The appeal also calls for laws on the prevention of domestic violence, and “meaningful material support for children and mothers, in place of support for war.”

The activists also started a petition on the website Change.org:

Military action is always a catastrophe, regardless of what it is officially called. It is bloodshed, violence, the degradation of human life, the trampling of freedom and human rights. We are horrified by what’s happening. We are against our sons’, brothers’, husbands’, and fathers’ participation in it, and we don’t want to participate in it ourselves – some women are medics subject to the draft, after all. You, who should have been duty bound to protect the rights and freedoms of mothers and children, must not turn a blind eye to this. Your family members can count on protection from participating in military actions, you risk nothing and lose no one: we suffer every day over our loved ones, sent by force to this meat grinder. How could you unleash hostilities against the will of many Russian citizens, and wage them at their expense?
