Ukrainian Security Service searches historic Kyiv monastery for Russian operatives

Source: UNIAN

Agents from Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) conducted a search of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a historic monastery in the Ukrainian capital, on Tuesday, local news outlets reported.

According to UNIAN, SBU agents cordoned off the church’s territory and searched it for weapons or members of a “sabotage and reconnaissance group.”

The SBU itself reported that it was conducting “counterintelligence operations” as part of “systematic work to counter the subversive activities of Russian intelligence services in Ukraine.”
