Two Zaporizhzhia NPP employees reportedly abducted by Russian forces

Source: Energoatom

Russian troops have kidnapped two employees of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, according to Energoatom, Ukraine’s state nuclear power company.

The employees in question are Oleh Kostyukov, the head of the plant’s IT department, and Oleh Oshek, an assistant to the plant's director. In a message on Telegram, the company called on the International Atomic Energy Agency to “take all possible measures” to rescue the two men.

Increasingly desperate for manpower in recent months, Russian authorities have started tapping a “resource” the country has plenty of: prisoners. If you think that sounds like it would have obvious drawbacks, you’re right.
