Russia reports three killed in Crimean bridge blast

Three people were killed by the explosion on the bridge linking Russia to Crimea on Saturday, Russia’s Investigative Committee has said. According to preliminary reports, the victims were in a nearby vehicle when the explosion occurred.

“As of right now, the bodies of two victims — a man and a woman — have been recovered from the water. Their identities are being established,” read the agency’s statement.

The Investigative Committee also reported that investigators have identified the owner of the truck that exploded. “It’s a resident of Krasnodar Krai. An investigation has begun at his place of residence. The vehicle's route and the relevant documents are being examined,” the committee said.

Russian officials did not mention what happened to the truck’s driver. In videos of the incident, he appears to have been killed.
