Patriarch Kirill calls for two days of ‘zealous’ birthday prayers for Putin

Source: Meduza

The Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill blessed the Orthodox bishops, clergy, monastics, and all the faithful to offer their “zealous home prayers” for the health of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, on October 7, his seventieth birthday.

On October 8 — the feast day of St. Sergius of Radonezh, one of Russia’s most venerated saints — a “special supplication for the health of the President of Russia” will sound in the churches nationwide, wishing “longevity” for Vladimir Putin, with the patriarch’s blessing.

The Moscow Patriarchate has also published formal guidelines for the Orthodox clergy, with the exact words for prayers to include in their church services on October 8.
