The Constitutional Court of Russia approves documents on occupied territories’ ‘admission into Russia’

The Constitutional Court of Russia approved the treaties on “admission into the Russian Federation” of occupied Ukrainian regions, which were signed on September 30 in the Kremlin. An announcement was published on the court’s website:

On October 2, the Constitutional Court recognized international treaties on the admission into the Russian Federation of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics, as well as of the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.

The court’s task was to verify the constitutionality of the treaties – one of the procedural steps for the formal annexation of Ukrainian territories. “Unification with Russia” must also be approved by both houses of parliament, as well as certified by Vladimir Putin.
