Russian government removes all mention of the war in Ukraine from 'patriotic' curriculum

Source: Verstka

Russia’s Education Ministry has removed all references to Ukraine and the “special military operation” from the curriculum for its "patriotic" lesson series, Conversations About What's Important, after a slew of complaints from parents and teachers. The original lesson plans and supplementary materials were removed from the ministry’s website on September 5, and an updated version was uploaded on September 7.

The new curriculum, which was first spotted by the independent Russian news site Verstka, has also been purged of the phrases “protection of Russians” and “the feats of Russian soldiers.” Daniil Ken, the head of the educators’ advocacy group Teachers’ Alliance, told the outlet that he’s “confident this is the result of people’s complaints, which have spilled out across social media and in an avalanche of media coverage.”
