Kirill Stremousov, the deputy head of the Russian-backed occupation authorities in Ukraine’s Kherson region, appears to have fled the region amidst reports that a Ukrainian counteroffensive on the south of the country has begun.
The collaborator’s apparent relocation was first reported by Ukrainian lawyer and activist Serhii Sternenko after he analyzed Stremousov’s latest video message to the public. In the clip, which was posted on Tuesday, Stremousov assures viewers that “Russia is in Kherson forever.” Strenenko noticed, however, that both the Annunciation Cathedral in the Russian city of Voronezh and the Voronezh Reservoir can be seen in the window behind Stremousov. It’s likely, Sternenko concluded, that Stremousov was recording from a Marriott in Russia.
