Power outages in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions after nuclear plant security system tripped
Parts of Ukraine’s Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions lost power on Thursday after the security system at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was triggered, according to occupation authorities. Kherson also reportedly lost water and cell service.
Collaborationist officials in Enerhodar claimed the security system was activated by a fire on the plant’s territory that was caused by Ukrainian shelling. “[The fire] led to a short circuit in the network. The power system indicators dropped to zero.”
Ukrainian authorities blamed the outages on Russian shelling.
