Apple sues Russia’s antimonopoly agency over $12 million fine

The American tech giant Apple has filed a lawsuit against Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), challenging a $12 million fine.

According to the Moscow Arbitration Court’s website, the court accepted the claim on May 7 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 21.

On April 27, the FAS fined Apple $12 million for abusing its dominant position in the apps market.

The fine resulted from an FAS investigation following a complaint from the company Kaspersky Lab. The cybersecurity provider said that Apple had unreasonably diminished the functionality of its parental control app “Kaspersky Safe Kids” (KSK), while simultaneously introducing its “Screen Time” app to the market, which has similar functions.
