Moscow’s Basmanny District Court has placed Alexey Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh under house arrest as a suspect in the ongoing criminal case over the violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules during the protest in Moscow on January 23.

Yarmysh will remain under house arrest until March 23, reports MBX Media.

On January 29, Moscow’s Tverskoy District Court placed a number of Navalny’s associates under house arrest, including his brother Oleg Navalny, Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina, Doctors’ Alliance director Anastasia Vasilieva, Anti-Corruption Foundation employee Lyubov Sobol, and Team Navalny’s Moscow coordinator Oleg Stepanov.

Oleg Navalny, Maria Alyokhina, Anastasia Vasilieva, Lyubov Sobol, and Oleg Stepanov are also considered suspects in the criminal case launched over alleged violations of sanitary and epidemiological rules during the protests opposing Navalny’s detention in Moscow on January 23.

The case was launched under article 236 of the Russian Criminal Code. House arrest is the most stringent preventive measure available for suspects in criminal cases under this article.
