Protesters in the Aremnian capital, Yerevan, are demanding that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan resign by midnight tonight, reports RIA Novosti.

The protesters have given Pashinyan until 12:00 a.m. local time to step down voluntarily. In the event that he refuses, the protesters have promised to “resolve the issue of his departure” independently, RIA Novosti reports. According to the Russian state news agency TASS,  opposition representatives have promised to convene a press conference to talk about their next steps, in the event that Pashinyan refuses to resign.

At the same time, representatives from the opposition party Prosperous Armenia (PAP) have initiated the procedure for convening an extraordinary parliamentary session to consider the issue of Pashinyan’s resignation.

Update: The opposition was unable to bring about Pashinyan’s resignation through parliament due to a lack of quorum.

On November 10, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed an agreement on a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the settlement, nearly half of the unrecognized republic’s territory will be placed under Azerbaijan’s control.

Protests involving tens of thousands of people began in Yerevan almost immediately after the ceasefire was announced. Pashinyan’s opponents are calling the agreement “traitorous.”
