Russia’s coronavirus spread continues to slow, as recovered patient population nears 100,000

On the morning of May 21, Russian officials announced that the country recorded 8,849 new coronavirus infections in the past day (85 more new cases than the day before) bringing the nation’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 317,554 patients. 

Another 127 people reportedly died from the disease, raising Russia’s total number of fatalities officially caused by COVID-19 to 3,099. As many as 92,861 people in Russia are known to have recovered fully, including 7,289 in the past day.

Russia says it’s conducted more than 7.8 million coronavirus tests, so far, including 262,800 in the past day.
