Investigators reportedly identify the gunman who killed Ingushetia's top anti-extremism cop
Sources tell the news agency Interfax that Russian state investigators say they’ve identified a primary suspect in the murder of Ibragim Eldzharkiyev, the head of the Ingush Interior Ministry’s “Center E” anti-extremism unit.
Interfax’s sources say the suspect is a 46-year-old man from Ingushetia named Kureish Katoyev. After the murders, he allegedly took a bus from Moscow to Khasavyurt, Dagestan. The news agency TASS previously reported that officials are reviewing nine different people in connection with the murders.
Late on November 2, a gunman in Moscow fired at least 10 shots at Ibragim Eldzharkiyev and his brother, killing both men. Investigators believe Eldzharkiyev was targeted because of his police work.
