Russia’s Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has fined the U.S.-based television channel CNN 200,000 rubles ($2,998) for airing an advertisement with a soundtrack louder than Russia’s legal limit.
Russian law dictates that no advertisement can exceed the average volume of the program it interrupts by more than 1.5 decibels. According to the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service, CNN violated that regulation in a clip featuring the channel’s logo and a brief video montage.
