Fire at campground outside Khabarovsk kills at least four children

Source: TASS

At least three girls and one boy have died in a fire at a campground in the Khabarovsk region, local officials told the news agency TASS. Another boy has also been hospitalized. Eight more victims — three children and five adults — were given medical assistance at the scene of the incident. There were a total of 189 children at the campground.

According to early reports, the fire broke out before dawn on July 23 due to a faulty radiator installed in one of the tents. Police have opened a manslaughter and negligent-services criminal investigation, and the camp’s director is now in custody. Following the deaths, the Khabarovsk region has declared an official day of mourning.
