Instagram suspends the account of a famous botanical garden in Moscow

Ramzan Kadyrov isn’t the only one in Russia losing their Instagram account. The Facebook-owned social network has also suspended Moscow State University’s botanical garden.

According to the garden’s director, Alexey Reteyum, Instagram suspended their account and then demanded legal documentation proving that the garden is what it says it is. Reteyum says the garden is merely part of the university, however, and doesn’t exist independently as a legal entity or commercial enterprise.

Before it was taken offline, the garden’s Instagram account had more than 297,000 subscribers. Though Facebook owns Instagram, the botanical garden’s account on Facebook is still active.
