Putin ‘admits’ the real reason drivers are quitting Gazprom en masse

Speaking to an advisory council on December 28, Vladimir Putin remarked on a mass exodus of drivers from Gazprom, the Defense Ministry, and elsewhere, following an ongoing transition to vehicles powered by natural gas.

“I think it’s self-explanatory,” the president said, tacitly acknowledging that drivers are quitting en masse because the new fuel, unlike gasoline and diesel, can’t be syphoned off (and re-sold illegally), depriving drivers of a lucrative, if illicit, means of income.
