Moscow fires two cops for ignoring a domestic abuse case that led to a woman losing both her hands

Two police officers outside Moscow have been fired and several others were disciplined for failing to do their jobs, following a local man’s attack on his wife that left her without both her hands.

On December 12, the 25-year-old woman was admitted to a local hospital missing her hands. Later that day, her husband surrendered himself to police. Supposedly out of jealousy, the man dragged his wife into the forest, tortured her, and cut off her hands, before taking her to the hospital. He now faces 15 years in prison.

Before this incident, the man had a history of threatening his wifeand had previously dragged her into the woods and held her at knifepoint. When the woman turned to police after these attacks, local law enforcement largely ignored her.
