An airline makes the most of Ramzan Kadyrov's Facebook ban

A little-known airline called UAN has swooped in and claimed Ramzan Kadyrov’s old Facebook URL. Visitors to facebook.com/rkadyrov95 will now find a promotional page advertising cheap flights from Grozny to Moscow and Berlin, among other destinations.

The enterprising company apparently claimed the web page on December 24, a day after Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov was booted from the social network as a result of sanctions by the U.S. Treasury Department. Kadyrov’s popular Instagram callsign remains vacant.

Kadyrov’s official government website still redirects to his old Facebook page, which now belongs to UAN.

Since the ban, Kadyrov has migrated to an app called “Mylistory” — a Chechen-based Instagram clone. Several members of his entourage have also started using the app. Kadyrov is still active on Telegram, Vkontakte, and Twitter.
