Police in Moscow have opened a criminal investigation into the theft of a special communication cable belonging to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB). A source in law enforcement told the magazine RBC that the case was opened on November 16, though it’s unclear when the theft took place.
The cable was reportedly stolen from a utility vault near an FSB facility on Novocheremushkinskaya Street. The cable’s value is estimated to have been 360,000 rubles ($6,000).
In the summer of 2016, four men were detained in Moscow on suspicion of stealing a 2.5-mile special communication cable from the Federal Security Service.
