The Russian airline Volga-Dnepr and the Ukrainian state enterprise Antonov are in closed negotiations to extend the airworthiness of the airline's An-124-100 “Ruslan” aircrafts, according to the newspaper Kommersant.
Both sides are reportedly interested in reaching a deal, but the tense bilateral relations between Moscow and Kiev are apparently complicating a final resolution.
Sources told the newspaper that there is a preliminary agreement in place, stipulating that Antonov will service Volga-Dnepr’s “Ruslan” fleet in Ulyanovsk. This service, which can only be provided legally by Antonov, is required every 4,000 flying hours.
