Steven Seagal to make reality show about obtaining land in Russia’s Far East

Hollywood actor Stephen Seagal will star in a reality show on state-owned television channel Rossiya 1 channel about getting 2.47 acres of land in the Far Eastern hectare. The administration of Primorsky Krai said that the project would follow Seagal through all of the stages of the process of registering one’s plot of land.

Seagal, who recently became a Russian citizen, plans to build a multifunctional sports facility and cultural center on his plot of land, said Ilya Gorbunov, speaking on behalf of the producers of the television project.

Seagal’s agent Anar Reiband said that the actor did consent to having his name advertised alongside the show, because “if something is still in brainstorming mode, it cannot be presented as a concrete project.”

Since February 1, 2017, any Russian can apply for a free hectare (2.47 acres) of land in the country’s Far East. Previously, applications could only be filed by residents of the region. As of the end of May 2017, more than 90,000 applications had been submitted. Of these applications, almost 17,000 havealready been approved.

Steven Seagal became a Russian citizen in November 2016. The American is also a citizen of Serbia.
