French authorities search villa of Russian senator on the Cote d’Azur

French authorities have searched a villa called Hier on the Cote d’Azur, which, according to local publication Nice-Matin, belongs to Russian senator Suleiman Kerimov.

The search took place on February 15 as part of an investigation into the acquisition of real estate in France, the details of which have not been reported.

Kerimov, reports Nice-Matin, is one of the largest owners of real estate on the Cote d’Azur. According to the publication, Kerimov owns about 92,000 square meters of real estate in this region, 12,000 square meters of which is occupied by the villa Hier.

The newspaper emphasized that this real estate is not officially listed in Kremiov’s name.

Suleiman Kerimov and his family are at the head of the companies Nafta Moscow and Polyus Gold. Since 2008, Kerimov has a Senator in Russia’s  the Federation Council representing Dagestan.
