Russian Embassy says Boris Johnson’s words disrupted its work

On Thursday, the Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom reported that protests taking place near its building had caused disruptions in its work. The protests, they said, arose in light of an appeal of the British Foreign Minister, Boris Johnson.

“The entrance to the consular section was littered with dummies parts” and the protesters “chained themselves to the [Embassy] entrance. As a result, visitors and employees of the diplomatic mission … were denied access to the building,” read the Embassy’s statement.

The embassy also said that the phone lines in the day were blocked due to a string of “empty phone calls”. The report emphasized that the police “stand idly by” during these “openly proactive and hooligan” demonstrations.

According to the statement, the Embassy say this protest as a carefully-planned action intended to “destabilize the diplomatic mission”. The protest, it maintains, arose as a direction result of Britain’s Foreign Affairs Secretary Boris Johnson call that Britons to protest against Russia’s bombing of Syria.

The BBC wrote on Thursday: “protesters blocked the entrance to the London embassy on Thursday with 800 mannequin limbs which they said was in response to the killing of civilians in Syrian city Aleppo.” Two protestors had chained themselves to the gate.

On October 11, Boris Johnson said that he would "like to see" a protest against Russia’s bombings of Aleppo.
