Federal Penitentiary Service confirms use of force against Ildar Dadin

Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service confirmed that Ildar Dadin is being subjected to torture at penal colony number in the town of Segezha, in an interview with newspaper Novaya Gazeta on Tuesday.

According to the service, Dadin was subjected to physical force after "rudely refusing to get out of [his holding cell]" and "began grabbing the uniforms of [prison] employees."

On Tuesday, Meduza published a letter written by Ildar Dadin to his wife Anastasia Zotova. In the letter, he revealed the torture that he is enduring at the hands of prison authorities. Dadin was imprisoned for organizing one-man protests.
