Navalny complains to Constitutional Court when local court refuses to investigate Putin
Head of Russia's Anti-corruption Foundation Alexei Navalny has filed a complaint with the country's Constitutional Court in connection with the refusal of the Court of the Tver Region to take up a lawsuit against Russian President Vladimir Putin, reported newspaper Kommersant on Wednesday.
In particular, Navalny disputes the Tver court's affirmation that no lawsuit can be filed against the President of the Russian Federation. According to Navalny, the president cannot be immune to legal action, whether civil or administrative.
Alexei Navalny has filed a lawsuit against Vladimir Putin in February 2016 on the basis that the president had not disclosed a "conflict of interest" when allocating funds from national wealth fund Sibur, whose shareholder is Kirill Shamalov - the husband of Putin's daughter Yekaterina Tikhonova.
According to Navalny, Putin violated the country's anti-corruption law.
