Ukrainian intelligence says there was an armed skirmish in Crimea between Russian soldiers and Russian federal agents
An armed skirmish has taken place in Crimea between the Russian military and border guards in Russia's Federal Security Service, according to Valery Kondratyuk, the head of intelligence at Ukraine's Ministry of Defense. When and exactly where the alleged shootout took place remains unclear. Kondratyuk made this announcement at a special meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko convened to discuss “the provocative actions of the Russian Federation in occupied Crimea.”
On August 11, a day after Russian federal police accused Ukrainian intelligence agents of infiltrating the Crimean border with plans to set off a series of bombs, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met with security officials and ordered the country's military forces on high alert.
