Rosneft’s former vice president, Andrei Votinov, is suspected of embezzling 113.8 million rubles (about $1.7 million) from the majority state owned Russian oil company, reports newspaper Kommersant.

Federal investigative agencies in Russia’s Krasnodar Territory and the North Caucasus have brought a fraud case against the former vice president. The case has also embroiled Krasnodar Territory Deputy and ex-construction company head Alexander Firichenko.

The fraud case centers around crooked construction deals engineered by Votinov and executed by Firichenko.

Andrei Votinov resigned from his post as Rosneft vice-president and board member in 2015.
