Prominent anti-Putin writer is found dead in his apartment at the age of 59

Vladimir Pribylovsky, the author of numerous anti-Putin books and a popular blogger who wrote about the Russian elite, was found dead in his Moscow apartment earlier today. He was 59 years old.

There are not yet any details about Pribylovsky's death, though his son, Mikhail, confirmed his father's passing in a statement to the news site VFM.ru. 

Vladimir Pribylovsky was well known as a publicist, a journalist, the author of many books about socio-political issues, the president of the information-research center “Panorama,” and the creator of the project “Antikompromat.”

In 2007, police opened a criminal investigation against Pribylovsky, accusing him of disclosing state secrets. Two years later, the case was closed.
