Estonian president is engaged to Latvia's top cybersecurity official
Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves is now engaged to marry Ieva Kuptse, the head of Latvia's Cybersecurity Division in the Defense Ministry.
The engagement was confirmed by Presidential Representative, Toomas Sildam. The couple got engaged in mid-November.
Ilves and Kuptse became acquainted during the early 2000s, when they both worked at the European Parliament, reports the BBC.
It is unknown whether Kuptse will continue her work in the Latvian Defense Ministry. A wedding date has yet to be announced.
“It was their private decision. It is unconnected to official duties Toomas Hendrik Ilves must perform as president of the Republic of Estonia,” said Sildam.
In April 2015, it became known that Toomas Hendrik Ilves had divorced his wife.
Ilves's Presidential term expires in August 2016.
