Police are making special arrangements to provide security to Anna Levchenko, an aide to Russia’s children’s rights commissioner, Pavel Astakhov, after she received several death threats in relation to her activism against pedophiles. One of Levchenko’s colleagues has also been placed under police protection.
Authorities are currently investigating a series of death threats sent to Levchenko.
Anna Levchenko serves as a coordinator for the movement “Hand Over the Pedophile!” which works to identify on social networks child molesters and individuals who distribute child pornography.
On August 19, Levchenko revealed that she has been receiving death threats for more than a week, though police refused to respond, until Astakhov intervened on her behalf.
