Russia jumps 29 places in the Human Capital Report

Russia ranked 26th out of 124 countries in the Human Capital Report for 2015, put together by the World Economic Forum and the company Mercer. The previous report, from 2013, put Russia at number 55.

Russia ranks below Estonia (16th place), Lithuania (18th place), and Latvia (23rd place). Ukraine and Kazakhstan ranked below Russia, standing at 31st and 37th, respectively.

Finland ranks first in the index, followed by Norway, Switzerland, Canada, and Japan.

The Human Capital Index is based on 46 indicators, including life expectancy, literacy, education, and standard of life.

Russia ranks high in levels of education, and also comes in 4th in Europe in the category of skilled workers. Yet Russia lags far behind other countries in terms of average life expectancy, which averages 70.4 years.
