A local district court in Novorossiysk, a city in the south of Russia, has brought administrative charges for hooliganism against five young women who performed a dance against the backdrop of a World War II memorial site called Malaya zemlya.

One of the participants of the dance has been arrested for a period of two weeks. Two others have been arrested for 10 days, and two more of the young women have avoided being arrested due to health issues and have been fined instead.

Additionally, the mother of one of the dancers has been fined, as her daughter is under the age of 18. The fine is for failing to “ensure measures facilitating the physical, intellectual, psychological, spiritual and moral development of the child.”

It has been reported that the regional district attorney’s office has launched an investigation in connection with the publication of a video online featuring the performance in front of the Novorossiyk memorial.
