A local court in Nizhniy Novgorod region has issued an arrest warrant for scientist Vladimir Golubev, who is suspected of high treason. Golubev is a former employee of a scientific research institute called the Russian Federal Nuclear Center. Earlier, Golubev had been under travel restrictions, but a secret services (FSB) investigator in Nizhny Novgorod region petitioned for the terms of the arrangement to be changed.

According to the investigation, Golubev had violated the terms of his travel ban. The court issued the arrest warrant at 1 AM on April 22.

“The court has approved the request of the senior investigator of the regional Nizhny Novgorod FSB administration and has ruled to take into custody the 66-year-old Golubev for a period of two months for violating the terms of his travel ban and his subsequent behavior,” a source told the news agency.
